ABOUT US
Hi there! My name is Julie and I am the owner and founder of Julie Scrumptious! I had become lactose intolerant back in 2014 and my eating habits, especially with desserts, changed completely. I really struggled to find delicious treats that wouldn’t put me in extreme discomfort. Then fast-forward to 2020, while I was feeling so hopeless and helpless about the environment, I decided to take the leap and go vegan. With that decision also came even more dietary restrictions. I found that every dessert I could have was either trying to be a “healthy snack” or was also grouped into gluten-free treats. I definitely appreciate having those options in the market and it’s amazing that companies are trying to be more inclusive, but when I want an indulgent treat that is rich and comforting and down right delightful, I want exactly that. I was done with having to convince myself that these treats were satisfying my cravings.
Cut to 2025! My partner and I decided to move to Saugerties, NY, in the heart of the Hudson Valley. The time had finally come, I have my own place with a beautiful kitchen and an ever-supporting partner, it was then that I put matters into my own hands! I put my love of baking and my experiences of missing luxurious desserts together and thus my vision was born!

First, of course, I'd have to come up with a name. Deciding on Julie Scrumptious was so special for me. When I was very young, my Aunt Amy would sing the song "Truly Scrumptious" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang​ to me, but would substitute "Julie" for "Truly". Ever since then it became a sweet nickname that her and my Aunt CatCat would call me. It keeps me thinking of my ever-supporting and loving family, and especially these two fabulous women who have always been incredibly important to me.

I then spent months and months researching and experimenting, finding the perfect recipes for the cookies that I sell today! Every single cookie that comes out of my home-bakery is handmade in small batches, ensuring every single one is made with care and love. You will not find a better gourmet, soft, melt–in-your-mouth cookie than those we offer. Whether you are vegan, lactose-intolerant, sensitive-bellied, or a person who just enjoys a gosh darn good cookie, you will be well taken care of by Julie Scrumptious.
